April 25, 2020 – The generosity of Illinois’ Sixth Congressional District was on full display this morning!
Due to the unprecedented events of Covid-19, local food pantries have fallen short of volunteers while the number of families seeking assistance has increased. In response to the increased need, Jeanne Ives and her campaign set up a food drive in three locations throughout the district.
Everyone staffing the food drive wore gloves and masks, in keeping with CDC guidelines.
Hundreds of items were collected to help restock food pantry shelves throughout the district.
The drive took place on Saturday, April 25th from 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. at:
- Downers Grove Township Republicans, 1001 Curtiss Street Downers Grove
- Ives for Congress, 703 Warrenville Road Wheaton
- Palatine Township Republicans, 765 North Quentin Road Palatine
“This truly is a generous and responsive community,” said Ives, Candidate for Congress (IL-06). “With only about a week’s notice, people rallied to help out their neighbors in need. We are grateful to all who donated and volunteered their time today!”
